Well, I have to add a logo since I found someone stole one of my photos and used it for an ebay auction.
But I don't like it because I feel doesn't look good in cosplay pictures.
What do you think about it?

That is just freaking wrong and they should be flogged! Why do people continue to be jerks and steal from others like that. I hope that you reported them to eBay and blogged/FB/tweeted about it!

Logos are good, watermarks if they are not intrusive. The default DA watermark is, in my opinion, awful. However a lot of watermarks and logos don't intrude at all and some are really cool. :)

However, I understand why people use them and would never object of course. Talented people need to protect their work. :)

You rock, I'll say it again, you are setting new standards for clean and fun and beautiful and sexy cosplay! :woohoo:

Keep it in. It may not look the best, but you got to do what you got to do in order to not have your stuff sold without your permission.

Add it. But you don't need a fancy, giant mark. Something simple, and effective.

Gotta do what you gotta do to keep your rights covered, that being said though you could always put the watermark along a leg or somewhere else where it blends in and is also hard to clone out.

Sorry about the thieves.

Honestly, I'm not a fan of the watermarks, but you gotta do what you gotta do, so if watermarking your work will ward off the bad guys, put it up.

I've had art ripped off and sold as a t-shirt on e-bay. First I will say that e-bay was prompt at pulling the artwork down when I contacted them. Second while I agree that a logo is a good thing if you are trying to advertise yourself, it really isn't going to keep someone from stealing your work, Photoshop does wonderful things for removing blemishes off of pics. I feel that watermarking for this reason only keeps honest people honest, the not so honest ones are going to get around it anyway.

I actually like subtle watermarks that have a source URL. Seriously. I hate finding cool images on random sites and not having a source for them. At least Tineye/Google similar image search can help find other sites with the same image now.

That pisses me off. But I understand the need for a watermark. They are not a perfect solution either, sadly, because unless you make it so large that the image gets obstructed, a simgle recrop the photo will let them use it but hopefully will deter some of the art thieves.

Anyway, I hate that you need to do this but a watermark does not bother me.

Do it even though it won't look too pretty it's more important that your photos are not stolen. Maybe find a place that won't be overly distracting.

Me explico?

Oo stole your photo?
i have saw peoples cosplay photos used as 'posters'..i do wonder if the cosplayer knows..

the watermark, it depends how big it is and where it is. i dont mind if its in a small corner etc..
but some people want too much credit and have it stuck over the center...or too big..
i think it takes away from the photo and i cant concentrate on the cosplayer and the costume...

Ah okay that definitely helps ^^ I know some people they come up with some creative looking watermarks that blend in with the picture and are hard to photoshop out but don't really distract the viewer from the pic itself.

Do what you have to to protect your pictures. I think it's sad, because it does detract from the beauty of the photo...but there are just a lot of jerks out there in this world.

The ones in the latest Sakura set are pretty discreet and blend pretty well with the pictures. Though really, like everyone's saying, do whatever you need to do to enforce your rights.

I usually don't +fav any pix containing any watermarks whatsoever because it ruins what you're looking at...
but I dunno Kitty...you kinda have to draw the line when someone's stealing your work-----so you must do what you must.

That's terrible that someone would use them for an auction, did you report the user to Ebay? it should be you getting the money if anyone. It's a shame to have to put logos on your photos, but there are ups and downs; on the one hand, at least it will provide some protection for your pictures. On the other, they can still be easily removed by anyone who knows a little of any image editing, but at least it would be a deterrent :)

Do it. Art theft is rampant on DA. It's not just a drawing but a picture of you. Very important to protect yourself.

The only watermarks I don't care for are those that cover the entire picture and basically ruin it.

Make it simple, not obvious, and not like the typical "DONOTSTEAL" we get on DA.
Something like just your name.

i think the logo you made is nice and simple, and i think it's a good idea, not only because people might steal your work but because it might come up in a google search and with the water mark more people might be able to find you
